I have wondered for over a year if my car had the Takata airbags but told myself (Not to worry - they would notify me if mine was one of the ones recalled) BUT NOOOOOOO no notification and now I find out it is one of the ones that need recalled. I decided to go online tonight to look up sun-visors since the dealership was closed and I could not talk to them until tomorrow and found all this information about recalls on the sun-visors and numerous complaints. This really gets in my way when driving and I almost had a wreck yesterday because I couldn't see. I had not had any problems until about 2 weeks ago when suddenly both of my sun-visors just dropped and would go in the up position.
The dealership (I thought) has been wonderful because I get free oil change and State inspection for free BUT now I have found out after 5 years of having NO NOTIFICATION WHATSOEVER that there have been over 8 recalls on my car I was NEVER been notified of!! I get constant mail from them wanting to buy my used Camry, time for oil change etc.
Mechanically this car has been great and only have eighty five thousand miles on it.I bought my 2011 Toyota Camry XLE new in July 2010. I truly enjoy all my Toyota's but have to think twice before buying another Camry. I would appreciate it if Toyota would look at this as a safety issue for a tall person like myself.
I will now have to remove my passenger visor like I had to on the driver side just so I can drive the car. Now yesterday my passenger side visor has started falling down (again blocking my view when looking out my right side of the car). Finally last week the parts person agreed to order me one and it should be in about six weeks (thank you recognizing this problem). Their response was always we don't have any in stock yet. I have contacted the dealership four or five times because my Camry has this issue. Then I received the notice on the melting dashboard last spring. When I took it to the dealership they informed me that I was just outside the extended warranty for this repair and it would be over $100 for the repair (I just removed the visor).
My driver side visor fell down (making it hard to drive because of my height). However I am a little disappointed at the quality of the interior on my 2007 Camry. Very disappointed in this situation, as third generation Toyota owner, this being my third Toyota, I put this situation into balance next time I get ready to buy a new car. Same dealership I bought my car and they have always serviced it. I was never notified in any manner nor did my dealership service department made me aware.
And this point I’m out of luck and there’s nothing they can do. Insisted they are NOT RECALLS but fall under warranty and extended warranty (bs).
I gave them my vin # and Well turns out my vehicle falls into both categories (1) visor issues (both sides) and (2) melting dashboard. Today Tuesday (9/10/ 19) I gave their costumer service recall center a call. , got some information down and started my research. While looking into parts and prices I cane across this blog/ forum. Well few weeks ago work slowed down and with spare time I decided to try and fix some of the issues my car has. By the end of 2017 driver side visor fell off, passenger side visor is dangling, and dashboard is melted and sticky. Later that spring/ summer the dashboard started melting little by little. In 2017 it got worst, the driver side visor fell off while driving. Started having issues with both visors about 2016, didn’t really made much of it.
